Play with a room before committing to a new look

Oct 2, 2026

Sometimes you like a room picture without having any immediate plans to renovate. You might wonder how a darker wall would feel in a bedroom, or whether your office could feel more like your own space.

That is a good reason to experiment with a model. Our community has editable starting rooms in different styles. This retro bedroom is one place to begin.

Find one thing you want to keep

You do not need to learn style names first. Is it the warm wood, the simple wall colour, or a particular spot by a window that you like? Find that detail, then copy the bedroom into the editor.

For a work corner, try the oak office. You can also start with an empty editor, though an existing room saves some wall-building when you are mainly interested in decorating.

Change one thing and look again

Keep the furniture layout while trying a wall colour. Use the editor's paint tools and material options, checking that you selected the intended surface. Rotate the view afterwards. Familiar furniture can feel quite different beside another colour.

Then try the floor, or one piece of furniture. Changing everything together makes it harder to tell which change you actually like.

This is the oak living room editor, shown to explain the workspace. It is not a before-and-after bedroom result or an AI-retouched image.

If you prefer a written request, open Agent and describe a specific change, such as “Keep the layout and change only the walls to warm white.” The assistant notes explain the conditions for running it and how to inspect a result.

Change your viewpoint before deciding

The view from a doorway can feel different from the view above the room. Try “Enter room” in the retro-bedroom detail to explore the original. Check your modified copy inside the editor.

When looking at colours, keep your actual room's windows and lighting in mind. A screen colour is not a paint or timber sample. If you decide to make the change at home, compare physical samples in that room.

If you only came to play, this is already a useful little session: find something you like, keep it, and change something you do not. For account-based plans, sign in and return through My scenes next time. Unsigned drafts stay in the current browser.
